No Sound, or too quiet? Change the Wax Filter

If your aid has a rubber dome on the end, peel it off and replace the small white disk underneath. If you have a custom mold or instrument, replace the filter directly.

Iphone Bluetooth Problems

Some iOS updates can remove or confuse the connection between the phone and the hearing aids.

For ReSound, Starkey, Sonic, Oticon, Signia aids:

Turn off aids by opening battery door or placing them in the charger.
Go to iPhone Settings —> Accessibility —> Hearing Devices.

Your hearing aids should then appear in the banner at the top of that section, in grey. Tap on that banner and select “FORGET DEVICES”. You will be automatically backed out of the page.

At this point, turn the hearing aids back on/remove them from charger. In a few seconds you should see “Hearing Aids (R+L)” appear in that top banner. Tap on that, and click “Pair” both times the pop up occurs.

You aids should be reconnected for phone calls and streaming.

For Phonak hearing aids only

Turn off the aids/place in charger. Go to Settings —> Bluetooth. If you have the app installed, there should be THREE (3) Phonak listings in Bluetooth. The one you want to unpair/forget is the one that does NOT have “LE_” in front of it. (It is usually listed as “R-Phonak Hearing Aid”). This is the true streaming connection to the phone - the other two are only for the app itself. tap the little “i” next to it, and Forget Device. Turn the aids on, and tap on “R-Phonak Hearing Aid” when it appears at the bottom of your screen. You may also have to re-pair in the app itself.

Android bluetooth problems

If the aid is not streaming (sending sound to the hearing aids)

Turn off aids by opening battery door or placing them in the charger.

Go to Settings —> Bluetooth —> click on the tiny “i” next to your hearing aid(s). Select “Forget Devices”

Turn aids back on, and tap “Search” in the bluetooth menu, and pair the aids if they show up.

If they do NOT appear in the bluetooth menu, you may have to go into the app itself and reset/re-pair. (Again, this varies phone to phone - some pair through the app first, some through bluetooth)

Since Android phones and connections are much more variable, if you continue to have problems, please contact the appropriate manufacturer’s consumer support number on this page.

Manufacturers’ consumer support

Sometimes, it’s easier to go directly to the top. (This is especially true for Android phones, or accessories such as TV streamers.) Below are direct-to-the-source numbers who can assist when our attempts fail.
